Senior Cloud Engineer at ICF Next in Remote
We are looking for a Sr. Cloud Engineer who is customer-focused and passionate about helping large government agencies modernize and transform their systems with their Cloud Engineering experience. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in helping our team formalize, standardize, and mature our cloud services offerings using AWS. You possess a good understanding of evaluating existing application technology stacks and how to migrate and modernize them in the AWS cloud. You understand the importance of security and believe risk management should be tackled early and not as an afterthought. You are passionate about automation and creating an environment that fosters DevSecOps approaches. You articulate the connection from business needs to technical services
capabilities and help client organizations navigate the tension between evolving traditional IT processes and modern approaches. You are collaborative and can help the client and project team towards modernization strategies and can articulate a vision that becomes tangible next steps for the client/team. In this role, you can be remote - however, expect travel to the Washington DC Metro area at minimum 4 times per year. Ideally, you would live within driving distance of the DC Metro area. What you'll be doing:
Translate business needs into Cloud architecture requirements Build modern architecture solutions from a legacy platform into a cloud platform using modular design standards Support scale infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques (IaaS/PaaS) including application migrations to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and/or GCP) within a large enterprise environment Responsible for supporting cloud solution resources, both IaaS and PaaS, that enable the business to securely run sensitive workloads within a cloud environment. Architecting and designing large scale enterprise infrastructure and integration patterns for cloud environments. Help drive internal CI initiatives as it relates to developing the cloud/infrastructure practice. Also, our team maintains a variety of platform technology, including application performance monitoring, automated cloud provisioning templates, and automated bootstrap and configuration management code. You will provide input on industry standards and collaborate with fellow team leaders on the prioritization and execution of ongoing platform improvement initiatives. Estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives Define multiple solution options to business problems Fundamentally knowledgeable in all aspects of solutions architecture and security Apply and generate best practices in multiple technical domains using various technology products and services Ensure solutions are developed and packaged in an easily consumable and repeatable way for customers and internal technical teams What you must have:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline 5
years of experience in leading and architecting, building, and deploying enterprise software systems in the AWS Cloud environment. 8
years of experience with building web-based enterprise systems 2
years of experience implementing IaC using Ansible, Cloud Formation, or Terraform 2
