Alberta Recruiting Specialists is searching for a Project Manager to lead a multi-discipline team through all phases of the project development and execution. The Project Manager will create and maintain a safe and effective project team and ensure that all aspects of the project meet COMPANY's requirements to achieve a quality project, while respecting the established budget and schedule objectives. The Project Manager is accountable for ensuring that all aspects of the project are developed and executed consistently with good project management principles and practices, a structured phased and gated project delivery model, COMPANY Operational Excellence Management System and all relevant codes, standards and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the selected EPC companies through all phases of the projects, including preliminary design, detailed engineering, procurement and construction. Oversees the EPC companies in their management of all resources, including third-party subcontractors, consultants, vendors and suppliers in order to deliver completed projects in accordance with COMPANY's requirements, plans, budgets and schedules and all regulatory requirements and directives.
Ensures that COMPANY's interests are effectively communicated and managed.
Accountable for the overall project budget.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all financial data and reports and the project schedule.
Accountable for overall project schedule. Working with EPC's and internal project controls department to manage and report on all project schedules.
Accountable for quality of all project deliverables.
Accountable for successful procurement, construction and project safety.
Maintains good working relationships and quality communications with internal and external stakeholders and groups that support all projects.
Prepares and issues regular project reports.
Supports the Program Manager and Project Executive in proactively anticipating and resolving issues and risks, and communicating in a timely fashion to COMPANY.
Develops and executes a stakeholder engagement and communication plan including: identifying stakeholder needs, information to be communicated, frequency and method of communication, defining RASCI, escalation process, and communication boundaries.
EPCM project team will include all disciplines required for successful engineering, estimating and scheduling, procurement, and construction.
This position will require interaction and influencing at all levels within the EPCM project team as well as the COMPANY APPL Integrity & Reliability program team, steering team and program sponsor/COMPANY President.
Manages 3 EPCM Project Managers and supervises Project Engineers, and Project Controls Analyst
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Experienced Senior Project Manager with excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Previous Project Management responsibility for producing multiple, on time, on budget and fit-for-purpose facilities on projects over $100 M.
Engineering degree with P Eng. accreditation in the Province of Alberta.
Experienced in working with both Owner and EPC firms.
Experienced with all facets of good project planning and management, engineering, procurement and construction activities with expert knowledge in phased/gated Project Delivery models.
Technical expertise in one or more engineering disciplines and familiarity with all engineering disciplines, scope development and detailed engineering, and document and quality management.
Pipeline (operation, maintenance, construction) experience desirable but not essential; experience in working in hydrocarbon environments such as refining and /or distribution required.
Knowledgeable in applicable codes and standards, regulatory requirements and directives (i.e. AER, DOF etc).
Proven ability to successfully lead multi discipline teams while motivating, influencing, negotiating and making decisions.
Ability to coordinate and work with a sustained effort to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage time and resources to address numerous issues and work processes simultaneously.
Ability to anticipate potential problems and opportunities.
Understanding and demonstrated experience in safety standards.
Political and cultural awareness.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position will be based in Calgary, with an office in the EPCM contractor's office and regular attendance at the COMPANY Calgary office.
Office and field work located primarily in the province of Alberta.
Regular travel to supplier and construction sites between Edmonton and Calgary during Procurement and Construction phases.
Meet EPC daily if/when required.
Meet daily or very regularly with EPC Project Manager.
Be available and visible daily to EPC.
