Position Summary
The successful candidate will communicate with relevant parties to obtain plans, specifications and electronic documents to provide the layout information. This individual will interpret plans, specifications and electronic documents to provide direction to construction crews either verbally or by installing construction staking. Location of Work: Northern Alberta. Some camp and/or hotel stay may be required.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
Day to day field staking in accordance with project design
Quantity pick-up and calculation
Troubleshoot survey layout and machine control data onsite; ensure data is correct and updated
Troubleshoot and repair all survey equipment
Installs stakes and marks up stakes according to pre-established procedures and deadlines
Ongoing communication with foreman and machine operators to discuss the layout required and provided for the onsite survey
Trouble shoots survey layout and machine control data onsite; ensures that the data is correct and updated
Pickup of construction surfaces, downloads to laptop software to calculate quantities of various types of soil moved in a timely manner
Coordinates, repairs and troubleshoots hardware problems for inventory survey equipment ensuring that information is accurate and updated

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive GPS Construction layout experience using Trimble or Topcon equipment with a minimum of 6 years' experience
Post-Secondary Education in a surveyor program from an accredited technical school would be an asset. High School Diploma is required
Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean drivers' abstract is required
Required Safety Tickets include CSTS/PST Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2
Must be able to communicate effectively with other coworkers and supervisors, through oral and written skills
Promote positive relationships when dealing with internal/external customers
Team orientated with open communication style
Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
Able to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and show initiative
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
