Drilling Operator

The Driven Piling Rig Operator is responsible for operating track mounted Piling drilling equipment. The successful incumbent will be responsible to drill various types of piles for use as foundation support for buildings and other structures. The Operator will pre-plan daily installations, and will be required to review construction documentation, evaluate site conditions, and will anticipate and solve potential installation issues. The Operator will ensure all safety and quality standards are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule.
Key Responsibilities and Functions
Work closely with the Construction Manager/Superintendent to consistently deliver quality service to customers
Must be able to operate a variety of drill support equipment such as skid steers and loaders
Work closely with swampers to rig, hoist and attach various tooling and material for installation purposes
Read and interpret project specifications and construction drawings
Care for, maintain, and operate company vehicles and equipment safely, efficiently, and according to operating manuals and legal requirements
Rig out/in and assist in mobilizing drills to the work site. Required to practice proper, legal load securement. Complete pre and post trip inspections on trucks; correct and report all defects immediately
Ensure all safety documentation and paperwork is completed per company policy, site requirements and OH&S obligations. Conduct hazard assessments, daily toolbox meetings and inspections. Report on site accidents, incidents and near misses
Provide on the job supervision, training and mentoring for construction labourers and equipment operators
Foster a team work environment, leading by example and assisting others as required
Maintain positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and by operating company vehicles and equipment in a professional and courteous manner
Adhere to all company policies and procedures in relation to both safety and quality
Contribute to the development and subsequent revision of company policies and procedures
Position requires both project site work and in city work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
5
years of experience operating drilling rigs
H2S Alive, Ground disturbance, CSTS and Standard First Aid are required
Bauer drill rig experience preferred, however experience operating other makes/models considered
Driver's license, with clean driving abstract required
Journeyman Crane Certification considered an asset
This position will be subject to pre-access/pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Knowledge of drilled piling industry processes, procedures, and policies is required
Experience in cold climates and remote areas is an asset
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to be diverse considered an asset
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
